American Film Series

The U.S. Consulate screens an American film two Friday nights each month. Come out and enjoy the film and the lively discussions afterwards.

May 10

  • Video Screening: Becoming American: The Chinese Experience 
                             “No Turning Back”

  • Weekly Forum: Education for People with Special Needs

May 17 
  • Video Screening: Ancestors in the Americas: Coolies, Sailors, Settlers
                             American History Series Part one
    Time: 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Weekly Forum: The Declaration of Independence      
    Speaker:Pultizer Prize winner Dr. David Hackett Fischer of Brandies Univeristy
    Time: 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Prof. Fischer has written many books, including Albion's Seed, a wonderful evocation of the European cultures of Early America, and two highly-readable books on the American Revolution, Washington's Crossing (which garnered the Pulitizer) and Paul Revere's Ride, the best work on that iconic event. His most recent book, Freedom and Liberty, is a sweeping iconographic history of these two quinticennsial American values. He has won dozens of prizes for his writing and teaching.
