Weekly Forum: Role of U.S. Press in U.S. Politics
With the campaign for presidential nominees officially started, PAS will focus its October Weekly forums on the U.S. press and its role in U.S. politics. We are pleased to announce that we will have two special speakers, experts in their field, on October 18 and October 25.
On October 18, Public Broadcasting System (PBS) Senior Correspondent, Ms. Gwen Ifill will discuss the role of the U.S. media in U.S. politics.
Gwen Ifill joined The NewsHour in October 1999 as a Washington-based senior correspondent responsible for conducting newsmaker interviews, studio discussions and debates, reporting from the field and serving as a backup anchor to Jim Lehrer.
Ifill joined NewsHour after five years with NBC News where she covered politics, public affairs and national trends for The Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Today and MSNBC.
A veteran journalist, Ifill covered the White House, Congress, presidential campaigns and government for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Evening Sun and The Boston Herald American.
