Adults' Passports

Passport applications must be made in person, by appointment only, at the American Citizen Services office of the U.S. Consulate General between the hours of 9:00 am -11:30 am, and 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm. Please click here to make an appointment. New passports are generally issued two weeks after application. Limited-validity emergency passports may be issued in special emergency circumstances.

 


Impartant Notice: Electronic Applications Now Required

Starting May 15 2009, the Guangzhou American Citizen Services Section will require use of electronic application forms for all passport services, including passport renewals and adding visa pages.  After filling out your application on-line, print and bring your application to your appointment.  You may fill out the required forms using the Passport Wizard at the following sitehttps://pptform.state.gov/?Submit=COMPLETE+FORM+DS-4085+ONLINE

Additional information about our passport services may be found here:  http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/passports.html.  Failure to fill out applications on-line, instead using handwritten applications, will delay processing of your application.


First Time Passport Issuance for Adults (aged 16 and older):

  1. Proof of citizenship (eg. certified copy of U.S. birth certificate with seal, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240), or Certificate of Naturalization)
  2. One photo identification card
  3. Two recent 2x2" (5x5 cm) color photos with white background, see photo requirements
  4. Complete form DS-11 (do not sign)
  5. US$100 payment.  Cash, traveler’s checks and credit cards are accepted (RMB and dollars)

Passport Renewal for Adults

  1. Submit current or expired passport
  2. Two recent 2x2" (5x5 cm) photos, see photo requirements
  3. If your present passport was valid for 10 years, complete form DS-82. If your present passport was only valid for five years, complete form DS-11. (do not signform beforehand)
  4. If your present passport was valid for 10 years, the fee is $75 USD. If your present passport was only valid for five years, the fee is $100 USD. Cash, traveler’s checks and credit cards are accepted (RMB and dollars)

    Note: 

  1. The consular officer has the right to request additional information. Please do not sign applications until requested to do so.
