Yes.  An adult passport holder does not need to appear in person to renew their passport.  A third party may submit the required documents as noted above on your behalf.

How long will I need to wait for my new passport to arrive?
Processing time for passport applications accepted and approved through U.S. Consulate Guangzhou is approximately two weeks.  Applicants will have their current passports returned to them at the time of application and can retain them for use during this processing period.

How do I get my new passport?
The Consulate will notify you by email once your passport is ready to be picked up.  Applicants may be able to pick up their new passports personally or authorize a third party in writing to do so.  When you or someone authorized in writing by you, return to the Consulate to pick up your new passport, your current passport must be cancelled.  Both your new and your cancelled passports will be returned for your retention.

Can I have someone else pickup new my passport for me?
Yes.  You will be issued a pickup slip when your passport application is approved.  The pickup slip or form allows you to designate a third party to pick up your passport on your behalf.  The form must be completed and signed by the passport holder.  The person you authorize must bring their identification (a valid, government-issued form of identification), your current passport and the signed pickup form authorizing this individual to pick up your passport.

Can you mail my new passport to me?
Currently, U.S. Consulate Guangzhou does not mail U.S. passports to applicants.  Applicants may pick up their new passports personally or authorize a third party in writing to do so.

My Chinese visa is in my old passport, will you return my old passport to me?
The Consulate understands the importance of your Chinese visa and will not cancel it.   Until your current Chinese visa expires, you will need to travel with both your new, valid U.S. passport as well as the old U.S passport containing your valid Chinese visa.  Once your current Chinese visa expires, the new visa can be issued into your new U.S. passport.
