Announcement about training session

In light of the many recent changes in  adopted children’s immigrant visa processing, and to ensure that all facilitators are aware of relevant regulations and procedures, U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou will host a facilitator training session on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 14:00-16:00.  Topics will include:

  • the Hague Convention adoption process,
  • medical requirements such as vaccinations and tuberculosis testing and treatment,
  • the Consulate’s visa processing procedures, and
  • facilitator expectations and guidelines.

All adoptions agencies that process orphan and/or Hague cases in China must send a representative to the training session.  We trust that the information to be provided at the training session will be useful to all, and will help ensure the best possible service to adoptive families.  All facilitators who currently have access to the Consulate for adoptions processes will be held accountable for the information shared during the training session, so it is important that adoptions agencies ensure that each of their facilitators is trained accordingly.   The training session will be conducted in English.

So that we may plan for training materials and building access, please respond via  email by Tuesday, October 13, 2009, with the following information:

  • Name of your adoptions agency
  • Name and email contact of the representative who will be attending the training session for your agency

We look forward to the opportunity to clarify our procedures with your facilitators, and to answer any questions they may have.
