Asst USTR Reade Surveys South China’s Economy

Ms. Claire Reade, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (China portfolio),  along with other officials from USTR, Embassy Beijing, and the Department of Commerce, visited Guangzhou on March 30 to meet with Guangdong Vice Governor Song Hai, U.S. business leaders, and local economic experts.

She briefed them on the successful outcomes of President Hu Jintao’s recent visit to the U.S.   Business leaders, officials and scholars described recent financial and economic developments in south China, potential economic impact of the 12th Five Year Plan in Guangdong, trade barriers, and efforts to improve the protection of intellectual property rights.
