CG Goldbeck visits Jiangmen, Yangjiang

Consul General Goldbeck visited Jiangmen and Yangjiang from June 30 to Jul 1 to learn about economic development and trade opportunities for US firms.  The trip marked his first appearance in both cities.

While in Jiangmen, the Consul General met with the Jiangmen Volunteers, who have organized more than 130,000 participants in an effort to provide assistance to elderly and handicapped citizens in the area.  In order to gain a better sense of the region’s economic situation, the CG also met with Jiangmen Mayor Wang Nanjian the Development and Resource Committee (DRC) and Bureau of Trade and Economic Cooperation (BOFTEC),  and a variety of local business leaders.  He also toured a Yihua Group’s hypermarket and dropped by the Jiangmen Jihua Technology Co. to gain more insight into the region’s expanding trade and green energy initiatives.

After a brief cultural visit at a "diao lou" or watch tower in Kaiping, the CG arrived in Yangjiang to learn more about its economic plans.  This part of the trip included a lunch with Mayor Wei Hongguang, as well as a meeting with Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant management.
