Education Cooperation Pivotal to Mutual Understanding

Nearly 20 educators from Guangdong’s universities discussed Guangdong-U.S. education program cooperation October 20 with officials from the U.S. Consulate General’s Public Affairs Section as well as education services trade and investment with Commercial Section representatives and student visa issues with Consular officers. Consul General Brian L. Goldbeck hosted the reception for educators stressing that bilateral education cooperation builds stronger people-to-people ties and deeper understanding and respect between Chinese and American people. CG Goldbeck cited, among others, on-going cooperation between Jinan University and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire as an example of progress begin made directly between universities and a concrete step toward building the kind of positive, constructive, and comprehensive relationship between our countries President Obama envisioned.
