Expanding U.S. Wine Export to South China

Every time people mention American wines, the first thing they think of is California wines. American wines have been embraced with great admiration by consumers in the dynamic South China region. Recently, Consul General Brian Goldbeck experienced a sensory journey through the wine region in California, discovering more American fine wines, and encouraging more exports of U.S wines to South China, so that Chinese wine connoisseurs can also have the opportunity to enjoy the high quality of these fine Californian and other American wines.

During his vacation in the U.S., CG Goldbeck visited more than 15 wineries in California’s famous winemaking regions, including Monterey, Sonoma and Napa Valleys.   Along the way, he introduced South China’s wine import potentials and promoted the newly-launched Pearl River Delta American Wine Import Association which was initiated by the Consulate’s Agricultural Trade Office in Guangzhou. The Association is a strategic platform linking U.S wines to the Pearl River Delta, whose purpose is to promote the high quality and value of American wines to Chinese consumers. Membership in the association is free to U.S. wine producers/exporters and Chinese importers/distributers. In December 2010, the Association sponsored two wine tasting events and one food-wine pairing event, and has plans for other exciting activities in 2011. In late December 2010, the Association officially launched its new website.  For more information, check it out at www.usawine.org.
