Basketball and Weightlifting Unite to Celebrate International Women’s Day

On March 7th, athletes Chen Xiaomin and Swin Cash celebrated Women’s International Day together.

In anticipation of the Asian Games and in celebration of International Women’s Day, the U.S. Consulate and Consul General Brian L. Goldbeck invited 50 women university students to join Ms. Chen and Ms. Cash for the global celebration of the economic, political, social, and athletic achievements of women. 

Ms. Chen won gold for China in weightlifting at Sydney in 2000, is a prominent Asian Games volunteer, and currently works for the Yangcheng Evening News.  Swin Cash’s accomplishments include: won gold for the U.S. in basketball at Athens in 2004; American Sportswoman of the Year in 2007; WNBA All-Star MVP in 2009; Guangdong Yalu’s forward in 2009-2010; and ESPN analyst.
