K3 and K4 Visa Processing in Guangzhou

  • The Immigrant Visa Unit will notify the applicant by mail when we receive the approved petition (Form I-129F) from NVC. We will send the applicant an instruction packet including biographical data forms (DS-230 and OF-169). This packet also includes a list of specified branches of the CITIC Industrial Bank where applicants can pay USD131 or the equivalent Chinese Yuan for the processing fee prior to the interview.
  • The applicant must complete the forms and notify the IV Unit they have gathered all the documents necessary for the immigrant visa.
  • Once the applicant has notified us, we finish the initial background clearances for the case, and we mail the applicant an appointment packet of interview-related information. This packet includes the applicant's appointment date and time, required medical forms and contact data for specific hospitals approved to conduct medical exams.
  • Because of the heavy volume of immigrant visa cases processed by the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou every month, applicants should anticipate a one month wait for the next available appointment time after their DS-230 part one and OF-169 forms have been returned to the Consulate.
  • During the interview, it is the applicant's responsibility to provide information to show a bona-fide relationship with the petitioner. The adjudicating officer uses the interview as well as the information brought by the applicant to make a decision. If more information is needed at the time of the interview, the Consular Officer will provide a refusal sheet that explains what further steps must be taken to bring the case to a conclusion.
  • If a Consular Officer approves the visa, the applicant will be required to make delivery arrangements with the designated China Post Office to either pickup the visa there or have it delivered by submitting a notice (make a link to the attached notice) and the interview appointment letter. The visa will be valid for two years with a multiple entry visa.
