ADOPTION

Medical Evaluations Notice -- August 2006

The ACIVU respectfully requests all adoptions agencies to pass the following reminders to adoptive parents and adoption facilitators:

U.S. Consulate Guangzhou processes hundreds of adoption visas every month. In order to create an orderly system, the Consulate schedules an appointment date for families. On that day, they or their facilitators should submit all required documents. Recently, an increasing number of facilitators have attended their appointment without a complete medical evaluation. The Consulate expects all families to have a prepared medical report for adopted children at the time of their appointment. Because of the increasing frequency of this problem, the Consulate may soon have to reconsider our current policy of making exceptions for families with late documents.
