New US FDA Law And Activities Reviewed
Consulate Food and Drug Administration Officer Dennis Hudson described his office's activities and plans at a January 11 AmCham south China seminar.
AmCham south China hosted a seminar on January 11 at the China Hotel to share updates of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) operation on drugs and medical devices, food, dietary supplements, and cosmetics in China as well as what FDA is doing with China’s State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) and the local regulators, training needs and other issues. U.S. Embassy Beijing FDA Country Director Dr. Christopher Hickey offered introductory remarks, and Assistant Country Director Ms. Irene Chan summarized key elements of the recently enacted Food Safety Modernization Act. Consulate Guangzhou Assistant Country Director Dennis Hudson described his office's activities and plans and attendees then had opportunities to ask questions regarding specific concerns. Consul General Goldbeck, Agricultural Trade Officer Sanchez, Economic/Political Section Chief Lee, AmCham President Seyedin and AmCham Consumer Safety Assurance Co-Chairman Hubbs also attended the event.
