AMERICAN SERIAL
AFI 20/20 FILM FESTIVAL SCREENINGS
(Feb 19, 2008 - Feb 29, 2008)On February 19, we will begin screening select films from the American Film Institute (AFI) 20/20 Film Festival at our office here in Guangzhou. AFI 20/20 is a program designed to enhance cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration through filmmakers and their films from around the world.
Listed below is the link for “AFI 20/20” the organization and Film Festival that brought these films and filmmakers together. If you are not able to download please let us know and we will provide you with a copy. The first film will be screened on Monday, February 19. Public Affairs Officer Darcy Zotter will lead the discussion on the film “Back Home”, a documentary about a survivor of the Rwandan Genocide. The screening schedule is as follows: (INTRODUCTION)

WEEKLY FORUM
Please join us for a new series of Weekly Forum talks. The premise behind these talks is that by analyzing a few tipping-point events, one can come to a better understanding of not only how the United States became the country it is today but of the values woven into this nation’s fabric. 11 American historians, each an expert in his/her field, selected these events as developments that led to the creation of an idea or institution that is central to America today.

THE LONG CAMPAIGN: U.S. ELECTIONS 2008
(Jan 17, 2008 - Mar 13, 2008)This new series of Weekly Forum presents an introduction to the upcoming 2008 U.S. elections. In these elections, U.S. voters will have the opportunity to vote for president and vice president, congressional representatives, state and local officials, and ballot initiatives.
