Promoting US Energy Saving Tech Exports

During their February 23 visit to Kaisheng Energy Technology Corporation’s (known as KBM) office in Shenzhen, Consul General Brian L. Goldbeck, Principal Commercial Officer Greg Wong, and Commercial Specialist Cathy Wang met with the firm’s President, You Qi Fu, to learn about its cooperation with Southwall Technologies, a California company which produces energy saving glass-related products.  They observed a demonstration of Southwall’s products, such as XIR laminate film.  XIR allows more than 70% of the visible light to pass through while reflecting over half of the heat-generating rays.  XIR is already in use in several buildings in Shenzhen and elsewhere.  The CG lauded cooperation between Kaisheng and Southwall as a good example of how cooperation can benefit both China and the U.S. while helping to protect and preserve the environment.

Consulate Staff Tours Guangzhou Tower

The Consulate’s staff and family members were received by Guangzhou Tower staff late the afternoon of February 26 to ride the high speed elevators to the 107th and 108th floors. The visit was timed so that they could see both day and night time views.  A tour around the tower gave 360 degree views of the city, including the Consulate’s new building construction project in Zhujiang near the new Opera House.  Luckily the weather cooperated but haze and pollution limited visibility to about seven kilometers.  As the group prepared to depart the Tower, CG Goldbeck thanked their host, GZ Tower Sales Manager Terry Zhou (Zhou Hua  周华), noting everyone had a great time thanks to the very friendly and informative GZ Tower staff, including tour guide Jem Chen.   CG Goldbeck concluded in his micro-blog of the group’s visit (see ) that the Guangzhou Tower was definitely worth a trip!
