Revised LSC/Article 5 Procedures
In an effort to streamline Article 5 document submission and return, and to provide better service to our adoptive families, U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou's Adopted Children’s Immigrant Visa Unit (ACIVU) is updating procedures. We are combining the previous separate LSC dropoff and return times, and adding an additional LSC service day.
Beginning January 10th, 2011, LSCs (Article 5) can be submitted and picked up from the ACIVU according to the schedule below. Article 5s will be available for return two weeks from the day the case documents were submitted. Facilitators should plan accordingly. As always, in the case of documented medical emergencies or children nearing their 14th birthday, we will work with the facilitators and families to expedite the issuance of the Article 5.
Mondays – 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Thursdays – 9:00 – 10:00 am
Fridays – 9:00 – 10:00 am
Sample LSC (Article 5) timeline:
Facilitator drops off paperwork (with NVC notification copy) on Monday, January 24, 2011. The paperwork will be ready for return two weeks later on Monday, February 7, 2011. The facilitator is asked to come to the ACIVU for paperwork return and drop off on the scheduled days only. If the ACIVU will be closed on a scheduled LSC day (for example on a Monday holiday), normally the other two days will still be available. We will not routinely shift LSC hours to the next business day.
