Revised Timeline for Adoption Immigrant Visa Processing
In our continuing efforts to better serve U.S. citizens and their families adopting in China, the Adopted Children’s Immigrant Visa Unit at U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou would like to announce the implementation of revised procedures. These changes will affect your agencies and families as follows:
* For adoptive parents holding appointment confirmation letters dated on or before October 22, 2010:
- All document intake appointments will begin 30 minutes earlier than originally scheduled. If your appointment was confirmed for 9 a.m., you will need to drop off documents at 8:30 a.m.
- Oath taking ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m., that same day. To repeat, document intake and the adoptive families’ oath taking ceremony will be held the same day. Immediately following the ceremony, adoptive families will be called to the visa windows to sign their visa application forms.
- Immigrant visa packets will continue to be handed back on the third business day.
*For adoptive parents holding appointment confirmation letters dated on or after October 25, 2010:

- Oath taking ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m., that same day. Immediately following the ceremony, adoptive families will be called to the visa windows to sign their visa application forms.
